South West Construction Materials is the name of a series of building materials that South Wales has been working on for a number of years.
The company was set up by South Wales Council in 2007 and was given a $5m investment from the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCG) in 2014.
Its business model was designed to maximise the use of locally sourced materials in building sites.
The business was initially successful, and in 2012 it started selling its products to businesses across the country.
In 2014, the company was given an additional $15m investment by the DCG to make the South West building materials business more efficient and competitive.
South West now has more than 1,400 employees.
The building materials company also employs more than 2,500 people and has contracts to provide products to the UK, the US, Germany, Australia, India and Mexico.
In a statement, South West said it was “very proud” of the work the company had been doing and “in the long term” aims to expand its operations to “all parts of the world”.
In 2014 South West also said it would close its current business in Australia and its current contract with the UK will end in 2019.
